The storm is supposed to be gone but the snoring thundered on just a partition away. I was told I am a snorer. I can hear myself sometimes so I cannot deny it. Then we found out that Raymond can be quite loud. Didn't hear that much last night probably being drowned out by the storm next door. Such is the hazard with sleeping among strangers. Life is like fellow pilgrims, you never know what you are going to get.
We set off at 730 am after breakfast, really late by our standard. But booked Albergue Suseia ahead of time so there is no worry. We were treated so well last time we had to make sure we get in.
As promised, the morning temperature was in single digit and felt very cold with blasts of wind. We are prepared though based on the experience from yesterday so it is not a big deal. Still, it is not as fun to be sitting inside the tiny bar than the outside tables for coffee or lunch.
Gigi remember this stage from last time. Not good memories because of her injury slowing the progress and also because of the wet weather making the stretches of faux rock path and rock outcrops very slippery. Well, we had none of that this year and it was smooth sailing. The last stretch of 4.5 km up to the hill top and then 3.6 km coming down seems to go on forever but it really is not too bad.
We arrived at Albergue Suseia in Zubiri at 230 pm. I guess that makes a 7-hour day but we rarely look at it that way. The only concern is getting a bed.
Suseia did not disappoint. It is now run by new people but equally as nice. We were even offered a welcome beer on arrival. It is converted from a house so there are small rooms. We were given a private room for 4. Perfecto!
Dinner was a three course meal with Basque food ending with local sausage relleno de Zubiri. Such a treat.
