Day 11 - Azofra to Redecilla del Camino

A  cool sunny morning walk through the country. That sounds really nice and it was. The forecast was 20% rain shower for the entire morning which usually means no rain unless you are really unlucky. We were definitely lucky because there is not a cloud in the sky. A sunny cool morning naturally turns into a hot afternoon, but only in the sun. We arrive at the albergue at around 130 pm. Perfect time to quit for the day.

Today is our longest day yet with 26 km. But we are all feeling strong. We got up half an hour earlier, made easy by the double room setup in Azofra that we wouldn't disturb other pilgrims with our early packing. By 10 am, we already covered 16 km and had lunch in Santo Domingo.

We managed to bypass Granon but did not do our research thoroughly. Turns out Redecilla del Camino has no support system for cooking despite the albergue having a kitchen that is fairly well equipped. There is not a single store that sells anything. The butcher shop and the bakery we saw on Google Map (sounds promising for a meal) are both collecting dust. Now we understand why there were not that many staying here over the last few days (we peeked at the registration book). We walked to the Tourist Information and asked. The answers: dinner? The hotel, breakfast? The hotel. Quite simply, the hotel is the only source for food. At least after a coupe of rainy days, we got our laundry done.

Pilgrim menu offered by the hotel turned out to be excellent, with excellent service as well.

Steak  for lunch at 10 am
