Day 7 - Estella to Los Arcos
Sunny
They say that it is hard to get lost on the Camino. Meaning that it is not impossible. A couple of days ago, we caught ourselves going the wrong way. We look at the yellow arrow going left from afar but didn't look at the combination arrows to go forward when we got closer. Fortunately, we only lost about 100 m. How did we know? It's just guts. It just didn't seem right. You have the feel of how it should be after a while. Today we saved someone missing a left turn and keep walking up the hill. Not sure whether he has the sixth sense and catches himself. It would be unpleasant regardless.
We left Estella a little later than expected. But today's 21 km is mostly flat, right in our wheelhouse. We finished in about 6 hours so it is a really good day. As I said before, time to relax, wash our clothes and walk around town a little.
Although we felt that we did well, we still couldn't get into our first choice albergue simply because we didn't make a reservation. I guess everybody is reading the same review. We walked on to the municipal albergue. It turned out to be a pretty nice one too except it is even cheaper. All in all, the municipal albergues have been quite reasonable in terms of cost and quality.
Los Arcos is a typical small town. Everything centred around the main square. Outside that, everything seems quiet. Not sure what they do other than pilgrim businesses. We had our pilgrim menu in the main square. I opted for the paella not in the pilgrim menu. We got a bottle of wine anyway. We have not had this much wine on a consistent basis in our lives and we are loving it.
Looks like fun! It appears as though the drawing practice is helping LoL
